Stories: Who's are told and whose remain in the margins? Throughout school we are taught significant people in history, but what we don't think about is who was actually significant but we have never heard of them? What makes these specific people so significant that we learn about them or their time period and not this group of ethnicity and their time period? Marginalized individuals are not just in history either. Look around in your classroom and even in your workplace or on your favorite TV show, there are individuals who are portrayed as less than because they may not be as smart as the person next to them or because they are scared to speak up for themselves.
